Title: I'm Too Old For This Shit Author: Yami no Kaiba Fandom: Star Trek XI Rating: PG-13 Pairings/Characters: Kirk!Prime (in spirit)/Spock!Prime/McCoy!Prime, Kirk Length: 3,320 words
Summary: He'd had to come out of retirement for a second time to do this. Disclaimers: I do not own the characters or the concepts of Star Trek in any of its forms. Notes: Thanks to Memory Alpha, Wikipedia, and Jim Wegryn’s list of Famous Ships and Boats. Wonderful sites for resource and ship names. Notes 2: Also, while I ignore a lot of comic stuff because it simply isn't cannon most of the time, and I haven't read Countdown, which is supposedly a prequel to the Eleventh Movie, I enjoyed and will briefly mention The Wake, a short comic written by Jeffrey Lang. Also, a brief mention of and dialogue from a scene of the episode The Immunity Syndrome. Finally, just take it for grated that the Original Movies will be referenced often.

So while trying to avoid sleep and find new reading material, I stumbled upon this little gem of a site: Complete Starfleet Library which had the most interesting thing ever:
Passage to Moauv, the entire comic issue, with mp3 files of the dialogue per each page. The only voice that sounded close to right was Doctor McCoy, though, and there are some artistic licenses taken that I don't care for (Uhura is depicted as a caucasian female of blue eyes and blonde hair, while Sulu's Asian hertiage is replaced by African heritage.)
But what really made my day, was that the plot device was a telepathic pregnant kitty, and McCoy sends Spock to catch her, and later supposedly delivers 6-10 baby kittens.
The entire comic left me with a major want for Telepathic!Kitten drabbles/fics between Spock and McCoy. Because *someone* has to take in the kittens, right? And we all know how much Spock loves purring animals.Current Mood: bouncy

So the second half of the 4th season of Slayers ended over in Japan earlier this month, and I finally managed to finish watching the fansubbed ending in what little time I get to myself.
And now I am unashamedly, wholeheartedly in a Rezo/Zelgadis, Xellos/Zelgadis kick once again.
But alas, there is very little action going on in that fandom of the general or yaoi variety at the moment. *pouts* And unfortunately the major archive for Xellos/Zelgadis fanfiction upped and closed their doors a year or so back (I miss you, Silk and Stone!). And while re-reading stories is always enjoyable, my pesky memory for detail is too good. One chapter in, and I can remember every major point of the story from when I read it years ago. (It works with anime too - Anime Club was watching Irresponsible Captain Tyler recently, and I hadn't seen it in over six years, but I was still remembering episode details very acurately.)

So I managed to finish my homework on Friday in time to drive down and be mildly late to my first airsoft LARP. It was exhausting (to be expected with all the running around) but probably the most fun I've had in quite awhile. I NPCed as a number of various characters: an upperclass picketer, a horribly terrible bounty hunter, a gang member, various miners, the Bonnie of a Bonnie & Clyde showdown, and an easily bribed electrician.
Like I said, lots of fun and I hope I can NPC for them again, though that'll depend heavily on my schedule.Current Mood: content

So in my infinite wisdom to observe the actor of one of my favorite characters, Rodney McKay, I was silly enough to over come my stout reluctance to watch horror movies and viewed the 1997 Canadian production Cube, in which David Hewlett had a leading role.
My favorite line out of the entire movie was "Unending human stupidity." (or something remarkably similar, I'm not sure about the first word being perfectly quoted) in rebutal to another character's line of "What's out there?" in reference to the entire working world as we know it.
I found the entire movie to be interesting in its philisophical, psychological, and possibly even managemental standpoint, though rather disappointing in its predictability and slight stereotyping.
I am however regretting watching it, because as always happens with that kind of movie, there were some really nasty ways to die that were depicted that I never want to remember.Current Mood: thoughtful

Well, finals for the semester are officially over for me. And while I don't feel I did absolutely terrible, there was one that I really needed to get a good mark on that I know I didn't. *le sigh*
Sooo...
( How I think the grades are gonna break-down. )
*Does the happy dance.* And now for Winter Break! (Which is going to be sad as I'm going to be saying my last good-bye to the home I've lived in since I was born.)Current Mood: sleepy

So finals are next week (of which I absolutely have to take three, and I'm taking a fourth optional one in hopes of improving my grade), and then its about three weeks of vacation in which I'll be helping my Dad pack-up the house for their move. (The new semester starts on Monday, Jan. 12th.)
Without the Finals, I believe my current grades fall like so: 2 A's, 2 B's, and 1 C.
If I can just raise that C and one of the B's during the finals, I could end up on the Dean's List once more (And thus, still have a shot at graduating cum laude).
Have a good Finals week, for all you scholars!Current Mood: relaxed Current Music: Nemo - Nightwish

Huzzah! My brother just got married! And surprised everyone on his and his wife's side of the family with it by covering it up as a Pre-Thanksgiving dinner between the families.
Since my sister also got married on May 24th of this year, I'll remember 2008 as the year my sibblings got married.

So may all of you have happy Holiday shopping. ^_^
Apparently, pretending to be sick really does make you sick. As such, I'm going to avoid playing sick people during my LARP events from now on.
And now I've got until the 30th off. Yay! *bounces* I've got 5 books lined up, and 2.5 seasons of Stargate Atlantis set up to read/watch between studying, asking for educational loans, and Thanksgiving dinners.
Happy Thanksgiving!
P.S.: Having dreams where you fly without support are just the best dreams ever.

| » Yay! LARP~! |
So, after the first full week of classes, I went off and NPCed over at the Final Haven Live Action Role Play (LARP).
I so missed doing this during the Summer.
It rained the entire event and I took a nose dive the first night into some muddy gravel, managing to skin my knee up pretty good.
But other than that, it was amazingly fun! ^_^ I mostly played as a goth-Guthrie during the event, but I also played some random undead monsters and shadow-forms, a teenage human playing a LARP within a LARP, a Dwarven wife, and a low-powered Master Rogue.
And also, if you're ever looking for a place with good Potato Skins, Zeb's is an excellent restaurant, though a bit expensive (on par with Applebee's for prices). They give you a big whole baking-potato cut in quarters in their combo sampler, instead of those little dinky potatoes other places do that they have to cut in half.
I can't wait for Winter Haven on October 31st!
I can, however, wait for tomorrow to arrive. *wrinkles nose and sighs* Ah well, at least I didn't have any papers due this week, unlike last week.

Yay! As of this very moment, every single one of my entries in this journal is finally tagged. (Why yes, my organizational skills *are* crappy, thank-you very much.) You wouldn't believe the number of rare gems I found when looking back...
It only took 2-3 years... (I is embarrassed)
Next up... Updating my journal memories. Should be a snap now that everything's tagged... (I hope.)
But for now, I'm going to try napping again so that I'm awake for classes in 6 and 1/2 hours.

Sooo... Yes. Hopefully my last year as an Undergrad. It all depends on the time tables established by the Spring Catalog whether or not I graduate in May or August.
Tallying up my Post-secondary education... Cheap Community College - Fall 2003 + Spring+Fall 2004 + Spring+Fall 2005 + Spring+Fall 2006 = 3.5 years + 2 Associates Expensive University - Spring+Summer+Fall 2007 + Spring+Fall 2008 + Spring+Summer 2009 = 2.5 years + 1 Bachelor Total = 6 years + 2 Associates + 1 Bachelors.
Hopefully it will have all been worth it.
6 years... Wow, am I slow. And wasn't there supposed to be a 5 year reunion somewhere?

I just finished watching Avatar: The Last Airbender. A very exciting and gripping cartoon (sorry people, as much as you wish it, it was *not* a jap anime) and I can't help but wish there was more, as there is still an un-finished side plot involving Zuko's mother, and Toph's parents (and I find it interesting that only Toph has something resembling a last name).
Zuko is, as usual, my favorite character - the 'villain' seeking redemption has always been an interesting character to me, plus the fact that he slipped back into 'evil' for a brief period makes me squee - it showed that it is harder than people expect to do the 'right' thing.
I absolutely loved the story, and recommend it for others seeking a comedic adventure/action story.
